Cat Privacy

About This Site

Our website address is: https://catslebridge.ie. We are jokily related to castlebridge.ie. It’s maintained by me, Carey Lening, a consultant for Castlebridge. And yes, I got the bosses’ permission before using the name.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please contact the DPO: carey@castlebridge.ie

Data We Collect

Listen, we all know that cats don’t respect your privacy, but I do.

If I can help it, no personal data about you is collected. I aim to keep this locked down and free of cruft as much as possible. If you email me, or submit your name and email via the adopt a cat form, obviously then, yes, I will have your name and email and whatever tender bits you send along (your love of cats, desire to work with Castlebridge, or hate mail). Your email address (and IP information sent in the metadata) will be available at that point.

I use Wordfence on this site to secure things and generally block nastiness. Like any web firewall, it logs IP addresses.

Sharing Your Data

If you email me or submit an interest in a cat, I will forward that information on to my contacts at Liffey Cat Club. You can also email them directly or visit their Facebook page.

Storing Your Data

Data you share with me via email is stored in encrypted servers owned by Castlebridge. We store everything in Azure, based in a data centre in Ireland. We manage our own keys, so the grubby bastards in Redmond (and Quantico) shouldn’t be able to access anything.

This site is hosted on Infomaniak‘s data centres in Switzerland. This is a privacy-respecting hosting provider, and they are serious about privacy. I highly recommend them.

Your Rights

Data subjects have a number of rights, including access, rectification, deletion (right to be forgotten), objection to processing, rights to receive data in a portable format, and rights to lodge a complaint or seek judicial redress. The easeist way to go about that is to send me an email (carey@castlebridge.ie) and ask what you’d like to have done. There may not be much I can do, because again, not collecting lots of data here, but one only knows when they ask, amirite?

If you feel my response or process of handling complaints (or this privacy notice) are unacceptable, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority, which is the Data Protection Commission here in Ireland. (link)

Cookies

If you visit the login page, a temporary cookie may be set, because WordPress is kind of dumb. It dies when you close the browser (it’s a session cookie). Sometimes, I link to tweets or other social media and that sticks annoying cookies on in the background. Sorry.
